Dr Maria Kasandrinou

Dr Maria Kasandrinou is of Greek origin and resides in the UK for the last 8 years. In 2002 she was awarded the Achillopouleio Foundation Scholarship (Greece)  to complete her research. This led  to the award of a  PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Portsmouth in 2007 for her thesis titled: “Training for Translation: The case of Specialised Training and Art Texts’.

Since the graduation in 2007 Maria has worked as a consultant in translator training and assessment for private clients.  Her current research focuses on: quality assurance in translation training and research, assessment issues, translation as an act of mediation and translation technologies and internet applications in training. At present she is developing a very different translation tool working on it together with a communications company.
