Muhammad Y Gamal

Muhammad Y Gamal is a researcher at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. A former subtitler at Australia’s leading multicultural television, SBS, he taught translation and interpreting for more than 20 years at Australian universities and institutes.

Muhammad’s main research is on the subtitling of Omar Sharif Egyptian films (1954-1961) into English.  His current research interest is in the emerging field of AVT in the Arab world and has commenced a series of papers examining the AVT scenes in several Arab countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
